The Lake Arrowhead Gathering Place: From Dream to Movement
March 2026
Just two years ago, the idea of the Lake Arrowhead Gathering Place was little more than a heartfelt conversation between neighbors who believed our mountain community deserved a dedicated place for connection, wellness, and belonging.
Today, that dream has become something much bigger — a growing movement powered by the generosity, encouragement, and vision of this community.
Since our last update, we have made meaningful progress. The Lake Arrowhead Gathering Place has officially received federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, allowing us to expand our fundraising efforts and build the foundation needed to make this center a reality. What began as an idea is now a fully recognized nonprofit organization with a dedicated board of directors and a growing network of supporters.
Over the past year, we have also continued listening carefully to the community. Our needs assessment confirmed what many of us already felt in our hearts — Lake Arrowhead’s older adults want a place to gather, stay active, learn new things, and support one another. With nearly half of our full-time residents over the age of fifty, the need for connection and accessible programs in our mountain environment is both real and urgent.
The Gathering Place is designed to meet that need.
Our vision is to create a welcoming hub where neighbors can come together for wellness programs, creative classes, social gatherings, educational workshops, and community services that support healthy and joyful aging. It will be a place filled with laughter, learning, and friendship — a place where no one has to navigate mountain life alone.
In the meantime, while we work toward a permanent location, we have begun hosting small community gatherings and pilot programs. From hands-on classes to informal meetups, these early events are helping us build the spirit of the Gathering Place long before the doors officially open.
And the response has been beautiful.
Every conversation, every volunteer, every small donation, and every word of encouragement reminds us that this project belongs to the whole community. It is being built by neighbors who care deeply about the future of Lake Arrowhead.
The next phase of our journey is focused on expanding awareness and raising the funds needed to secure a permanent home for the Gathering Place. With your continued support, we will create a space that serves our mountain residents for generations to come.
If you believe in the power of community, connection, and caring for one another, we invite you to join us.
Together, we are creating something truly special.
Because here in the mountains, we don’t just live near each other.
We gather.
